- Hi there, "Amiga Lovers", here is my CD32/Sx32 setup...
-
- There is much talk in the industry about 500$ NET terminals, and set-
- top boxes, here is my setup which represents, in my opinion the future of
- Internet Terminals....
- It's inexpensive, very compact and elegant (about 1/4 of the Walker
- size), quite fast and most of all its works perfectly well...
- At the end of this message I've included a few things I'd put on my
- wishlist.
-
- Here is my config to surf on the NET (much better than the AT Surfer pack)
-
- --------------------------ACS Coniguration------------------------------------
-
- + CD32 + SX32 (fully internal expansion turning it in an A1200+++3.1)
- OS 3.1
- 2meg Chip RAM
- 4meg Fast RAM
- 260 meg 2"5 Hard Drive
-
- + CDTV Keyboard (beautiful black separate Keyboard)
-
- + AT 1438s Monitor (not so bad when properly configured ;-)
- (I have a wonderful flicker free dblpal
- (704x536x256 display)
-
- + Olitec pocket 28.8 kbps FAX/Modem
-
- + Canon BJ70 portable printer
-
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- As my cd32 is, my setup is quite easy to carry arround, I can carry it
- with me find a TV screen, a phone plug for my pocket modem (cigarette box
- sized....)
-
- I genarally surf with some great TRANCE background CD-MUSIC (easy for a CD32)
-
- When I don't surf on the NET I play Gloom Deluxe with a special cp2
- routine taking full advantage of the "akiko" chunky to planar chip (with a
- result exceeding that of of an A 4000/040), still with a backround CD mixing
- perfectly with Gloom Deluxe Sounds...
-
- My system is quite fast, and inexpensive (not PPC or Pentium like
- but who cares, anyway my system is cheaper and it suits my needs) it's
- also very compact (CD32 sized) and User friendly, fully customized to meet
- all my computer needs
- BTW try doing that with a Saturn or a PSX ;-)
-
- There are only a few things that I'd put on my wish list to be fully happy :
-
-
- +NETSCAPE (either 1.x or 2.0x) because I've tried all the Amiga Browsers :
- --------
- Amosaic 2.0, IBrowse, AWeb, Mindwalker, but they don't satisfy my
- needs (yes I need fast image loading and display and asynchronous comms)
- and the few browsers that came close to those requirements do crash a lot...
-
-
- +SimCity 1.4 AGA 020
- --------------------
- I hate SimCity 2000 and I find SimCity 1.4 too slow and with a too small
- window (I'd like to be able to FTP download while playing SimCity quite fast
- in a dblpal flicker free screen and listening to a background cd)
-
-
- +Colonization AGA 020
- ---------------------
- for the same reasons as above...
-
-
- + standardized filters or tools for import and export MSWORD and MSEXCEL
- -------------------------------
- like the XTND claris system or IFF to convert them for Amiga Spreadsheets and
- word processors...
- Yes I hate MS$@@@ and its products but they are the industry standards, you
- can help it and for doing serious work you need to be able to save and open
- MS documents from Mac and PCwindoz
- For the moment I use a small Macintosh Powerbook 100 (68000 4/40) sitting next
- to my CD32 setup (that is very compact) in order to convert and print
- Microsoft made documents and exchange them with Amiga with 720k DOS disks...
- I like FW but it lacks imoprt/exports filters
-
-
- + More Amiga compatible vector fonts
- ------------------------------------
- Where could I get more vector fonts ? Is it possible to convert Mac"True Type"
- fonts to Amiga vector fonts
-
-
-
- "Amiga makes it possible"
- "May we we make it happen"
